Hi! I'm a photographer located in Southern California, where I mainly shoot family & kids portraits. But I also love traveling and documenting stories around the world, so every few months I'm usually off on another adventure! I have a passion for development and fighting against injustice, so when I am able to combine this passion with my photography, my heart feels alive!
The most important thing in my life is my relationship with God. I love my family and I cherish the time I get to spend with them. I have the coolest nephew in the world, and there is no greater feeling in the world than to see his face light up when he sees me ('Tia'). In short, this blog is about my business... my photography... my thoughts about God... my journey... my life.

I had SO much fun shooting around downtown San Diego with this little cute, Miss Z! She has SUCH a wonderful personality, and I was honored to have an opportunity to capture a bit of that fun-loving personality with my camera. (Thanks, Becky, for taking some video footage during our shoot!)

I love shooting in NEW locations! So I absolutely loved shooting with Josh and Christi in Lynchburg, Virginia for their engagement session. These two are so in love; it was just way too easy to get good shots of them together. :) My favorite story was of when Josh knew that Christi was the one. They were just hanging out, throwing a football back and forth, and when he saw her throw the football (she could REALLY throw), he says he wanted to drop to his knee then and there. (Isn’t that so cute?!) Josh and Christi, your love for each other is absolutely apparent, and I pray that God will continue to bless you both as you walk into this next season of your lives. Congratulations!

I know, I know… I’ve been completely M.I.A. here on this poor lonely blog. There are some changes ahead for Kimberlee West Photography (I’ll explain more later)… but for now, just wanted to say that I am completely enjoying my trip to Virginia!

It’s true. Little Miss Riley Rae would NOT even try to put on her Lady Bug costume. I was forced to come up with something a little less costume-y. So, a girl after my own heart…a cowgirl. It looked even better than I imagined! Kind of glad the Lady Bug went out the window! :)

Hope you all had a fun (and safe!) Halloween! I got to spend the day with my family… and this cute little lion! I just love my nephew. :) The highlights of Brody’s Halloween night:
1) Getting a new flashlight.
2) Hanging out with a few of his favorite people… mommy & daddy, Grandma (aka ‘Dra-mma’), Grammie & Grandpa (’Pa’), & Tia.
3) Seeing Elmo (another kiddo dressed up; judging by his excitement, I’d say Brody thought it was really Elmo!)
4) Dancing to “Thriller” and other Michael Jackson songs at the Halloween street fair in Redondo Beach.
Such a great night!
Rumor has it that Becky’s little gal, miss Riley, didn’t want to wear her ladybug outfit. But I hear that Becky threw together a last-minute outfit that was JUST as adorable. Can’t wait to see pics… Becky will be posting a few very soon to share with all of us!

I have the most wonderful childhood memories of growing up in San Diego. Seaworld, the San Diego Zoo, family beach nights every week during the summer, rollerskating in my best friend’s garage, hiking up Cowles Mountain on the weekends with dad… these are just a few of my favorite childhood memories. And then there was Bates Nut Farm in the fall. We would head up there as a family and spend the day doing all things ‘fall’-related: Pick our our pumpkin at the pumpkin patch… enjoy a hayride… meander through the petting zoo feeding goats and lambs… drinking hot apple cider… ah, the memories! Well, last week, I got to relive a little taste of my childhood when I spent the day there with my mom, grandma, sister, and nephew. It was so much fun! Here’s a little glimpse at our day at Bates:
Brody with his Grammie…
… and with mommy and Nana…
I just LOVE fall! It is definitely one of my favorite seasons. I want to encourage you all to enjoy your family this season… soak in the moments you have with your family… don’t take even one second for granted… Happy Fall! :)

For all you fellow mamma’s and mamma’s-to-be out there; I am LOVING my new wipes case. I was ‘browsing’ at Nordstrom’s this week, and laid my eyes on a very small section of Paul Frank! I have been needing a new case to put my wipes in, and I just HAD to buy this!….Only $8…The best part is; while I am changing my daughter, I let her hold the case, and it totally occupies her!! Thanks, Nordstroms!

Where do I even begin with this blog post? Lukey is my little buddy. Although he was very stubborn and didn’t make his appearance into the world until 2 days AFTER I had left for Thailand for a month… I’ve since forgiven him for that. ;) I’ve watched him grow from a one-month-old little chubby-cheeked baby, into an adventurous-yet-sometimes-timid toddler, into a Star Wars-obsessed three year old, into an independent four-year-old ‘big kid’ and sweet big brother to his adorable little sister. A while back, he asked if he could call me ‘Aunt Kimee’ - and my heart just melted knowing that he sees me as a sort-of-member of his family. I was recently looking back through some old photos, and just couldn’t help but laugh out loud at the series of photos I found of this little guy. A few years ago he showed me his first ‘cool guy’ faces, and from then on, it was inevitable: whenever my camera made an appearance, so did this cool guy face. Lukey, I love you and your cool guy faces. Thanks for letting me be a part of your family - and thanks for being you. I truly hope that you are never ‘too cool’ to bust out that cool guy face. :) Love, Aunt Kimee
October 17, 2009 - 1:16 pmJan - Thank you for sharing these pictures of our little Lukie! It was fun looking back over the years. Somehow I believer that he will never be too cool to share his cool guy face. Thannk you for capturing it!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to let you know that…
That’s right - I’m traveling again! I’m so honored that Compassion International has asked me once again to travel with them as their photographer. Peru is one country I have ALWAYS wanted to visit, and now I am finally going! I’m excited to be in South America for the first time, to finally put my Spanish minor to use, to travel again with my kindred-spirit-of-a-cousin… and above all, I’m looking forward to meeting these beautiful kiddos and their families, to see what life is like for them, and to help tell their stories through the images I capture. I’ll only be away for about a week, but if I’m able to get internet connection, I will definitely keep the blog updated. And, as always, if you are a client (or potential client), my assistant Becky is on-hand and available to answer any questions you may have! Email her at: info@KimberleeWest.com, or call the studio line at: 949.698.2758

November 14, 2009 - 12:46 amKira - Hi Kimberlee!
That's so awesome. My husband and I sponsor a girl in Honduras through Compassion, and it's so amazing to read letters from her and watch her grow. How did you get involved with Compassion and have the opportunity to go along with them as a photographer? I'd love to do that. If you have any helpful info to pass along in those regards, I'd be grateful. =) THANKS!
